His Excellency, Dr. TUN Pheakdey was born on June 05th, 1970 in Prey Angkanh Village, Prey Angkanh Commune, Chantrea District, Svay Rieng Province, stretching out on the eastern part of Cambodia.
In Democratic Kampuchea (1975-1979), as a child, he was forcedly assigned to collect fertilizers and do a lot of hard work by Khmer Rouge soldiers.
In 1979, his family and he moved to Banan District in Battambang Province in order to escape the war happening at the time. From 1979 to 1983, he studied in Kontoeur I Primary School in Banan District, Battambang Province.
From 1984 to 1989, he studied in Net Yang High School in Battambang City.
From 1990 to 1992, he pursued his study in Military Medical School in Phnom Penh, the capital city of Cambodia.
From 1993 to 1997, he studied in Maharishi Vedic University in Kamchay Mear District, Prey Veng Province.
Since 1998, after graduating from the university, he had ideas to found a high educational institute for the students in Battambang. Furthermore, in order to promote the human resources in this province, he decided to found the University of Management and Economics which has had eight campuses located in Cambodia, where he has been the president.
Recently, Dr. TUN Pheakdey is a direct adviser to Samdach Akeak Moha Ponhea Chakrei Heng Samrin, the president of Cambodian senate. Under his leadership, University of Management and Economics has been developed tremendously and this university is recognized nationally and internationally as a university providing high qualified education.
